Wild New Year 1st January
Happy New year to you all. Continuing with my 12 days of Christmas wild things, today a simple rainbow to start the year.
Wild Christmas 31st December
Firstly, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope 2022 lets you find kindness at every turn.
Continuing with my 12 days of Christmas wild things, today we went on a community sponsored 8 km walk to raise funds for a new community park in our small village. Despite being a grey day it brought lots of laughter and joy.
You may notice in the photograph above that the gorse (bush with yellow flowers) is already blooming. This plant does flower early, but 31 December seems particularly early. We also saw quite a few dandelions in bloom, Herb-Robert and the hogweed shown in the photograph below (with accompanying mating flies).
At least the trees look like they should in winter.

The end of 2020
And so we reach the end of 2020. A challenging year on so many levels. Usually we try and get a beach walk in on the 31st December or the 1st of January. But knowing we were heading back into a new covid 19 level five lockdown today (our highest level lockdown here in Ireland), which includes a 5km travel restriction – we made the most of yesterday and went to Ross Beach.

A visit to the beach, no matter what time of year, brings cheer. The tide was out and the low winter light perfect.
I want to thank all those who have stopped by over the last year, particularly those that have taken time to comment. I know I haven’t been as good as other years in reading and commenting and I will try to do more in 2021. I do value this wordpress community, the support, inspiration and kindness you all offer.
I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope 2021 brings you some magic.
Bye bye 2019
As we say goodbye to 2019 and the decade, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of you that have taken the time to read, like or comment on my blog. You support and interest keeps me writing and posting photographs – I could not do it without you.

Our world is a constantly changing place – sometimes for the better, sometime for the worst. Let us hope that 2020 and the new decade will bring lots more positives, for our environment, wildlife, and for people everywhere.
