Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #259 – Unbound

In this week’s challenge, guest host “departing in five minutes” asks us to – Escape Your Confines And See The World. So that is exactly what I did this afternoon. Escaped the office and report writing and brought the kids to a nearby lake for a bit of nature emersion.

The waters edge is packed full of wildflowers which is turn attracts lots of insects.

Many thanks to Departing in Five Minutes for this week’s challenge.

Lens-Artists Challenge #258 – Fences

Many thanks to guest contributor The Day After for this week’s Lens-Artists photo challenge with the theme Fences .

I love fences, there is just something about them. I am lucky to be involved in a project on the Mullet Peninsula in Western Ireland. Here there are large open machair fields divided with barbed wire fencing. While this type of fencing can often look horrible, here the windswept often broken fences can take on an artist feel.

I was inspired by some other contributors black and white images for this challenge. This is a fenced walk way at the osprey centre in Wales, that we visited earlier in the month.

There were some lovely shadow patterns on the fence around the huge bird hide.

Back home in Ireland we also visited the Eagles Flying bird of prey centre in Co Sligo. Here, as well as getting to see some lovely birds flying, we also got to look at captive birds – behind their own fences.

I had never seen vultures so close and was really impressed by their beautiful eyes.
