Look what decided to pop onto our lunch table on Saint Stephens Days (Boxing Day).
Poor thing much have pupated somewhere in the house and the warm temperatures made it emerge too early. We tried to give it some sugar water. It was about till yesterday but haven’t seen it today.
WoW! Bringing you blessings!!
Look out for the cabbages… he’s after an early start! 😉

Poor thing. We once stayed in a thatched holiday cottage and managed to hatch out three tortoise shell butterflies in February!

Tortoiseshell are more commonly seen as they hibernate as adults, and we’ve had odd one too over the years. But this is first time I have ever seen one of the white butterflies in winter!

But it couldn’t have entered a more natural and welcoming place. Good for you all. Lovely picture – one for the local paper?

It was. The little thing only passed away a couple of days ago, as it did take our sugar water a couple of times. But it’s demise was inevitable.
