We’ve had the most amazing weather for the last few days, lots of warm sunshine. Everything in the garden seems to be rushing on and the jobs are mounting up! The first fruit tree to flower was the plum.

The pear is not far behind it and I expect the apples will be after those.

The greenhouse is packed with seed trays. And both the greenhouse and polytunnel are providing plenty spring greens. While outside there is lots of purple sprouting broccoli and cauliflowers to enjoy. In the tunnel, broad beans and mangetout peas have been planted out and more planted in pots to be planted outside in the coming weeks.

And we’ve been working on the new flower and herb garden. There is still lots to do, though the first plants are in. The miniature daffodils have given a lovely display. The weed membrane will be covered with small stones which we are still waiting to be delivered but the main hard landscaping is done and the fence is finally all painted.
I just love this time of year. There is so many new things to admire, so much to see and enjoy.

Glad your weather is good now. Ours have windy, cold at night and warm daytime. The first flowers are blooming. I some lilacs starting to open this week.

What cheering and brilliant pictures. You’re definitely ahead of us here in Cambs – our neighbours have different varieties of plum trees but none with flowers yet. Your polytunnel is huge – I always think of the 18″ ones.. Naïve question: how do you propagate dandelions for next year’s early bee food?

You could collect the seed when they start to form and just pop them in a pot of compost and leave them outside somewhere.

Your garden is coming along beautifully. I’m envious of all those spring greens – and yellows and whites and pinks! Got to enjoy some of those gorgeous sunny days in Mayo before returning to grey New York state. The tree frogs are finally singing though.

BEAUTIFUL!!! I am all chicken-wired in for can’t let the bunnies/other critters eat my spring crops! It does not look too pretty in certain areas, but spring flowers are up and blooming. I love this time of year it gives one such hope
Spring purple sprouting broccoli-do I plant that in the fall for spring? I know you grow that in your part of the world-just wondering how I might do it here? Have any suggestions?

I grow a lot of kale but would love to try spring broccoli for it might work better in our short cool weather spring…it is hard for me if I plant broccoli out in spring it goes to seed due to our warming up so quickly by May….

Purple sprouting broccoli has long growing season. I’ve got seeds already in for next spring. I wonder would the perennial nine star broc do well with you? It’s older variety and very productive. It did better for me last year when we had colder winter year before. Worth a try.
