Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #232 – Looking Back

Sofia’s LAPC this week’s is about – Looking Back. I thought I would look back at my first blogs – it is 1070 posts later. First post was on the 13th March 2014, so nearly nine years ago! I remember being nervous posting it. Sadly no one actually liked it and the two ducks which featured in the post are no longer with us either.

As some of my regular followers will know I am quite fond of bees. My first bumblebee post was on the 15th March 2014 and it was on buff-tailed bumblebees. I had all of four likes and comments.

Buff Tailed Bumblebee

It wasn’t so easy to find my first Lens artist post – but I think it was on the theme of “Wonder” (July 2018), and I posted about our trip to Picton Castle in Wales and it’s beautiful garden. A wonderful place to explore.

Many thanks to Sofia for prompting this trip down memory lane.

Oh, gosh, yes. Those early posts which got a couple of likes and no comments. It does take time and effort to create a community and challenges like this one definitely help. I had to look to see which was my first Lens-Artists post, it was #5 on the Cornish blog ; Blue on August 5 2018.

I would have liked you ducks. Pity we didn’t “know” each other then. The Bumblebee would have gotten not only a like but a big WOW.
I didn’t enter this challenge but it would be interesting to see how my early posts went 🙂

I think every blogger can relate to the trials of launching a new blog. It took me a while to find my groove!
I’m glad we found each other’s blogs, I enjoy all your posts from your critter close-ups and stunning Irish vistas. ❤

What a terrific idea for the week Karina, I loved it!! I remember those days of early blogging very well. Ten years ago! It was the WordPress Photo Challenge that really helped me gain some followers. It was a wonderful community and I was so sad it was stopped so abruptly. We love our Lens-Artists community and so appreciate those who participate. People like you who make us smile and gift us with your beautiful nature photos. Sad about the ducks tho, glad at least they’re getting belated attention now 😊

A completely different take on the challenge and cool one too! I think we can all relate to those first posts, the excitement and so many good photos that no one saw and liked. I’m so glad you posted them now as they are getting the attention they deserve. It’s a wonderful community that we have and it takes a long time to built it. All worth it.

I would certainly have liked (no, loved) your bees had I known you then but I wasn’t even blogging in those days! I think we all started small and had to develop our community, as you have done 🙂

A wonderful idea! I know so well about the nervosity and the nolikes…took some years to find friends and write regularly. Even if our posts were good, we had to wait for the community to find us.

What a great way to look back. Makes you also realize how far you have come in this journey. Your photos are always stunning with or without a challenge, but I for one was glad to find you here. And I love those ducks with you. And I too am bee lover. On a warm day, I love sitting out by our lemon tree, and listening them buzzing away. Very nice.
