Well this challenge is right up my street, many thanks to Anne of Slow Shutter Speed for hosting “Wildlife close to Home” for this week. Those who drop by regularly won’t be surprised by my first image. I just love bumblebees, and it is great to see them enjoying the flowers in the garden.
This summer and autumn we had a lot more shieldbugs in the garden than other years. I think these guys look pretty comical.
Butterflies bring more colour to the garden.
And finally another favourite – this time a slightly larger animal and a rarer visitor to the garden, but always a joy to see – the Irish hare.
This is a delightful collection of images – I love seeing the hare 🙂

Well your hare is gorgeous Karina and you’ve proven the beauty of your garden’s insect visitors beyond question! I especially loved your little green-veined white.

I love the focus you have given to insect life: and that wonderful hare, who has posed so prettily. In my own post, I completely forgot the omni-present rabbits.

I love bumble bees too. Your butterflies are wonderful and the hare is a pretty guy – I never get that close to them here! A beautiful post – insect life is precious and to be able to help growing.

The hares are shy, the photo was actually taken through a window.

Always a pleasure to see life in the garden, it gives the whole a feeling of balance. I love that you see Irish hares, aren’t they in decline?

The population seems stable now, but numbers are a lot less than they were hundred years ago. We love to see them around

I always love your bees, as you know 🙂 But all of these shots are great! The hare looks a bit stern, as if he disapproves of your camera?
