Marsh marigold and buttercups are so bright they can be hard to photograph – but playing around with “shadow” effect can give some nice results. I also cropped the second image.

Both beautifully enhanced! The second one, cropping really made it stand out. Well done!

Beautifully done – such a small thing but such a big difference. The darker background really helps the blossoms to stand out. And your header is glorious! Is that really ice?

Yes on the header it was a frosted bloom

Yellow (and red) is a difficult colour to photograph. Your edits work well.

Yes you are right, red can be tricky too

Bright flowers, especially yellow ones, are particularly difficult to photograph well. These are good examples of what to do with them.

I particularly like the feathering in the cropped butttercup. Playing with light shade and colour shade is something I hadn’t thought about and the possibilities must be endless! Yes, love the raindrops appearing more strongly on this one.

The edited versions look very dramatic, especially with the raindrops on the second.

Yes sometimes it is fun to go over the top with editing. Sometimes I just do little adjustments.

Great edits, MM. You really heightened the colors by darkening the distracting background.
