This week’s photo challenge is Favourite Place. There are too many of them. In County Mayo alone I could list half a dozen. So I decided to stay close to home – my own garden. I would happily spend all day pottering, planting, weeding. Here are some glimpses of the garden in it’s glory – summer time. A nice reminder of things to look forward to on a cold wet March day.

      They are surprisingly easy to grow. Though the slugs like them, so good idea to get them well established in pots before planting out.

        I bought a young lupin plant a few years ago for our old garden which was on several feet of chalk. It gradually disappeared before it had chance to flower – slugs or snails, as you say. I might try one here in the new garden after establishing it in a pot as per your tip. It’s layers of slate here rather than chalk!

      Thank you. The butterfly is a green veined white, but it will use cabbages to lay it’s eggs on to.

        we have three types of white butterfly that we see in the garden. Green veined, Large White and Small White. They will all lay eggs on cabbages, though the scientific name for the Large white is Pieres brassicae and is often called Large cabbage white.

    Oh, what happiness you’ve captured in your garden. Such detail: the markings on the butterfly; no flower is complete without a bee working on it; and the peaceful atmosphere of the garden. Happiness.

      Spring seems to be having a hard time this year getting started in many parts of the Northern hemisphere
