We’re having such odd weather Eliza this winter. This last week we have had rain, frost, snow, gales. You just don’t know what you are going to wake up to! Climate change!!
No…it is not over yet. And our magpies is also carrying sticks to their nest. they have a two storey apartment in our garden as well as in the neighbours’ garden. Last year a cat ventured up to the nest, went inside and out on top of it. A real thriller.
My mother told me it snowed on her wedding day, which was April 10th over 67years ago! The coldest part of winter is when the days start to get longer.
Amazing to see the snow, beautiful but cold. Even here on Gozo the weather is a bit unusual, we have had a little more rain and cloudiness this past winter, and even now the evening and nights are quite cold.
An overnight storm – is this rare or usual for this time of year?

Not over here either, although much of the snow has melted today. The deer and birds and chipmunks and squirrels are making the most of it.

Yes, we saw a magpie today carrying a stick to his nest, seemingly oblivious to the snow!

Well, the snow highlights how cleverly the wall was built. Can’t believe the magpie was nest building – so even the birds are confused….

There is certainly quite a bit of spring like bird bahaviour in the garden. I think it is the weather as opposed to the birds that is confused!!!

You’re getting more snow than us here in Dublin!

Yes, it has been an unusual winter for us – likely influenced by climate change. But we always get more rain here in the west!

Someone told me the bees HAVE to fly in the rain out west or they’d starve haha

There is an Irish tale about a old cow that boasted that cold March could not kill her, but March borrowed three days from April and the managed to kill the cow – see http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com/ACalend/BorrowedDays.html

It has generally been a very wet winter here. And grey. Looking foward to the spring!

Nope, we have had a few days of near 60 F with more next week. Currently, 30s F and a wintry mix. Not out of the woods yet.
