Today is the winter solstice. It is dark and grey, but thankfully from tomorrow the days will start getting lighter. It is too dark for a photo this morning but here is one from earlier this month.

I’m actually a bit sad that tomorrow we head towards summer again. As I’ve grown older I’ve come to like winter more – no hay fever, cool enough to sleep, my paid job is less demanding…. I do miss the bumblebees, though!

Oh, I do miss the bumbles too. Unlike you though I am happy we are heading toward longer days!!!

For me this is a big day. I look forward to it and to the lengthening of the days. I like more light and longer days. Amelia

Me too – it’s so dark today – we seem to have had dusk all day. Roll on tomorrow and lengthening days!

Happy solstice! I like autumn, but by the time it gets round to the shortest day, I am always ready for the world to brighten up again.

I find I can’t wait to be in the garden again, it’s far too wet out there and begining to look bedraggled. Roll on some warmth. Stunning picture.

Thank you – and yes I concur! I hadn’t even been out to greenhouse for days. Everything is so damp!
