First frost

We woke this morning to blue skies, but also white encrusted grass. The sun soon had things gently steaming and the frost quickly disappeared. It was just the confirmation of what we already knew – autumn is here. The frost wasn’t sharp enough to do away with the beans – so we may get another couple of meals.  But the squash and pumpkins, which didn’t have a good year anyway, are gone for another year. It is the cycle of seasons, but this one is always one I am reluctant to let go.

Thank you – yes I know frost already! It looks like it may be another clear night so fingers crossed we won’t have more – just a bit early yet!

The first frost! Yes, autumn has it’s own beauty and offers much pleasure but I must say… there is still so much I need doing (for 17 in 17) that I’m really say to see summer go!

Yes did harvest some beans yesterday and again today for dinner. They are hard to find though, mainly because the bean row is slanting badly after a few windy days prior to the frost!
