The tadpoles have hatched and are growing quickly. They are concentrating themselves in dense clumps in the shallower water at one end of the garden pond. I suspect as they get bigger they will begin to move out.
In the picture below you can see some of the braver ones!

Wow! Abundance!

Wow, amazing numbers. I suspect the shallows are warmer. You are blessed with a healthy population – a good sign for everyone!

Yes, I agree, the shallows will be warmer for them.

Ours frogs usually return around St Valentines day each year and spawn with in a couple of weeks – they are always easier in a nearby drain though!

That is so cool! Glad to see they seem to be thriving.

It’s good that there are so many as there are newts in the pond too and they will be feeding on them!

I guess that will “thin the herd”, so to speak.

Wow I don’t think I’ve ever seen tadpoles behave like that. Amazing 🙂 thanks for sharing.

They don’t really seem to have dispersed since they hatched but I expect they will soon – if nothing else they will want a bit of space!!

At least they turn into frogs! We have toadpoles here and they turn into Cane Toads!

Frogs are definitely better!

Agree. I still squeal when I discover a Cane toad in my garden!

Wow! I wish we had a good wet space for some. I’ve seen adults in my two really damp and dark corners of the wee garden, but no small ones. I’d love to have some frogs here!

They are good to have in any garden for their slug control properties!

Hmm, I might want to try to create a little pond…somewhere…

They have now dispersed.

Mmmm… thus the scientific principle is as follows… you have a good chance of becoming less dense as you grow! 😉

Probably the most we have had. We counted just over 60 frogs in the pond this year. It’s not a big pond. There is a drain near us which has usually more frogs! But there is more vegetation cover there so not as easy to see the tadpoles.
