There is something about gates that I like, particularly the old iron ones you sometimes come across, on the back roads around the west of Ireland.

What a good collection. Thanks so much for your entry. I particularly like the different tops.

They are all individual not like today’s modern farm gates!

All that detail – often like to look at gates and try to decide how old they are. Very comforting. What a lot of history some have seen.

Some could no doubt tell a lot of stories!

I love gates too. They are – as seen here – often full of character and are very attractive. I especially like the red one; very nice – with a wonderful and inviting view beyond!

You are so right it is the gate itself and the view beyond than entices!

All very nice gates. I particularly like the mystery of the second photo…where does the gate lead, I wonder?

It was to an old abandoned farm cottage – what stories it could tell.

Great country gate images, you could do a book on the topic with a short story on the gates environment

Thank you – we’d certainly have enough gates here – though these nice old one are getting rarer
