Battered indeed!! Here’s a photo of my first Peacock sighting for the year. (I’ve been recording with Butterfly Ireland for a few years and send them the odd photo) http://www.butterflyireland.com/Recorders%20Photos.htm
I could. I get their mails but I find it a little counter productive to do two separate submissions for the same recordings! These organisations should pool their data, that may give a more realistic picture, me thinks!
It always amazes me each year that I have several butterflies wtih battered wings. I think about their many travels and how they weathered the storm- just like us getting wrinkles as we age-lol…but they are much prettier for they have a splendor like no other!
Happy sunshine! I didn’t realize that they were so tiny – thanks for offering the scale!

Our butterflies tend to be quiet small Eliza – probably because of the climate they have to put up with!

Looks like it had a fight with something and got away! Have you considered doing a butterfly transect of national biodiversity centre?

Actually I do think they do pool their info – but I know what you mean, it is real important to share scientific data:)

It amazes me that such a delicate being can carry on when its structure could have been compromised. What a determined little fellow.
