To say the garden pond is heaving with frogs is a bit of an understatement! I used binoculars to help me count them today from the kitchen window. I counted 38 and I don’t think I got them all as there were probably some hiding in corners that I couldn’t see. Trouble is, as soon as you get close to the pond they head underwater and the zoom on my lens is not working. Thankfully there was one brave one – who was bold enough to pose for a rear-end and front-end view! Frogs are great addition to any garden, providing a valuable pest control service. Who wouldn’t want them in their garden?
The last picture is so pretty… cute little frog.

Cute little guys! We have tree frogs around here but they are very elusive.

When we watch wildlife programmes my kids are always taken by tree frogs – I am not sure what it is about them – extra cuteness factor possibly?

If I had a garden pond I’d want one (or 38)

..or at least two as then you’d get even more:)

Frogs do well in Ireland – perhaps it because they haven’t much competition from other amphibians (we only have 3 species) and obviously our wet climate helps too!

Your pond sounds just like ours. Last year I counted 40 mating pairs!

I just have a soggy garden at the moment – but in the past have found a frog in the darkest, wettest corner. It’s such a misnomer, ‘common’, isn’t it? They are quite beautiful to me!

I agree – the colours are beautiful, the shiny skin and bright eyes – all very appealing. I am sure you have more frogs than you think too – they are good at hiding:)

Free pest control is a great title! I’d be thrilled to have 38 or so in my garden. Lovely post!

how neat is that! My kids use to have those in a tank in their room not outside in a pond-now that would be fascinating:-)

Well, we have a pond and I have seen the occasional frog but that is all. It has water lilies and a few plants but needs more to entice, I think. Lovely frogs – well done.

Once there is some cover the frogs will come. We have advantage of being surrounded by farmland and woods so lots of habitat for them
