Snow!

Today we had snow! Not that common in the west of Ireland and it is not much, but the joy it brought the kids was wonderful. The only thing that made me sad was that my eldest wasn’t allowed out at school during break time as it was considered too slippy! So as soon as he was home there was no homework – it was straight outside for a snowball fight! We have two and a half snowmen now too! This was the first one! Tomorrow afternoon rain is forecast but we may get another morning of fun if we are lucky!

Same for my children. And like you, I let them out to play as soon as they got home. Supposed to be some wild weather next couple of days here on the west coast. They might not want to be out in the cold and wind expected 🙂 .

Just checked out your snowman on your blog page! Cool snowman! Love the pink gloves! Yes, time to batten down the hatches for tomorrow – but I think you may be a bit more exposed than us! Take care.

Loving the snowman! He looks like a Horace. So glad our Godchildren has such a good Mum. Hurrah for no homework and some fun in the snow xx

Ah, the rare pleasure of snow as part of an Irish childhood. Can’t possibly miss those moments. That teacher is obviously very far removed from his/her childhood. Loved the snowman too.

Exactly Melissa, especially as now we are back to rain and high winds and the snowmen are fragments of their former selves!

too slippery-that is the best part-skating with your shoes!!!! We use to play king on the mountain as kids. They would push the snow off to the side of the playground. It would make a huge pile that we would climb-so we invented the game-KING OF THE MOUNTAIN( wonder why it was not queen-tee hee).. We would play the game at recess-lol..not anymore today in schools–it would be seen as a dangerous thing to do(+ it was)-wonder how we ever survived childhood!
Snowmen-a “rite of passage” here in the MIdwest of USA-never met a child that grew up with snow that never built one-yours is a cutie!

Sounds fun! My kids love playing – King of the Mountain – but it’s usually piles of soil or a rock they are on – we don’t get enough snow for doing it on snow:)

What a wonderful snowman – a small flurry this morning here but that is all, so far. I think resident wellies at school are the order of the day – a world gone mad with Health & Safety!

I agree – I’d have those kids outside building snowmen! Thankfully that is exactly what my daughter’s pre-school did the following day. At least someone has sense!
